The Indian Institute of Technology Madras will organise the first Asian international hyperloop competition in February.
The competition will be held from February 21 to 25, bringing together key hyperloop stakeholders from the US, Europe and other parts of the world. The competition is conducted jointly by IIT M Pravartak and SAEIndia and supported by the Railways Ministry. The aim is to showcase hyperloop concepts and foster a transformative spirit among young minds in the field of transportation.
The competition will be held at the institute’s unique, state-of-the-art hyperloop test infrastructure built with support from the Indian Railways, ArcelorMittal, Land T and HindalCo.
Considered the 5th mode of transport it is a high-speed train that travels in near-vacuum tube. The reduced air resistance allows the tube to travel at speeds over 10000km/h. Satya Chakravarthy, faculty advisor, Hyperloop IIT Madras, said the global hyperloop contest was a testament to what students could achieve given the right opportunities and pathways. “We aim to inspire and equip the next generation to redefine what’s possible in transportation,” he said.
The event will feature 400 participants, competing in 3 categories: participants will showcase their hyperloop pod prototypes, demonstrating advanced speed, stability and safety features on the cutting-edge test track. a case study competition is on the anvil, aimed at tracking real0world challenges in implementing hyperloop technologies; Design enthusiasts will get an opportunities to present innovative concepts and ideas, pushing boundaries of hyperloop technology and its applications.
Teams will showcase their hyperloop pad prototypes, demonstrating advanced speed, stability and safety features. There will be case study competition aimed st tackling real world challenges. There will also be a platform for design enthusiasts to present innovative concepts and ideas.
