Persons with disabilities (PwDs) in Chennai received assistive devices during a special grievance redressal meeting at the district collector’s office on Wednesday. In the southern region, five scooters fitted with support wheels, worth ₹5.09 lakh, and two worth ₹2.10 lakh in the northern region were distributed. Further, five hearing aids worth ₹16,425, and one prosthetic limb worth ₹4,700 were handed out at the Collectorate by Collector Rashmi Siddharth Zagade.
This was at a special grievance meeting held there for the disabled where a total of 221 petitions were submitted by the public. Officials were instructed by the Collector to take immediate action and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive assistance.
The personal assistant (general), the district differently abled welfare officers of South and North Chennai, and the district social security officer were present.
