Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) has issued show cause notices to certain firms located in Thiru Vi KA Industrial Estate, Guindy, alleging that they are using the land for commercial activities, in violation of original terms.
As per regulations, the firms can use the allotted land only for industrial activity. We have issued about 100 notices to firms which have used the land for commercial purposes like establishing a car service centre, showroom, hotels etc. The notices are issued for sealing the premises, a SIDCO official told The Hindu.
The official said usually firms reply saying they are not using it for commercial purposes.
They have to respond with evidences for our notices. Some firms move the High Court and get stay on the notices, the official added.
