A correspondent writes in The Times: The Gersoppa Falls, situated in the Mysore State in South India, are reputed to be the highest falls in the world, the sheer drop of the Rajah, the largest of the four falls, being 829ft. They offer one of the most picturesque views in the whole of the country, and though difficult to access, are visited by a considerable number of travellers every year. The Government of Mysore, which originated the first hydro-electric scheme in the East, the Sivasamudram scheme, have now carried out a careful survey and prepared a scheme for harnessing these falls.
