Tamil Nadu government has called for applications from those interested in setting up ‘Mudhalvar Marundhagam’ (Chief Minister Pharmacy), which will sell generic medicines and other medicines are reduced cost to the public. The applicants, who either have a degree in B.Pharm or a diploma/ or have the consent of the degree/diploma holder, can apply through www.mudhalvarmarundhagam.tn.gov.in.
The applications will be considered based on qualification and they should either own a space of 110 square feet or be able to rent the space along with relevant documents.
“The entrepreneurs will receive Rs. 3 lakh as government subsidy in two instalments – in cash and as medicines. Those who require extra funds can apply for loans through co-operative banks. Those who have been selected will be given training after which the first instalment of Rs. 1.5 lakh would be disbursed. After the infrastructure to store medicines such as racks, fridge, Air conditioning and boxes to store medicines have been bought, the second instalment will be disbursed. Incentives based on sales will also be given,” a press release said.
