Bureau of Indian Standards organised an awareness programme on ‘Indian Standards on Artificial Limbs, Rehabilitation Appliances and Equipment for the persons with disability’ in the city on Wednesday. V.Chockalingam, professor emeritus, Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR University was the chief guest. Nearly 180 stakeholders took part in the programme. Officials of BIS noted that the standards for artificial limbs, rehabilitation appliances and mobility equipment would ensure functionality, safety and accessibility for users. Manufacturers would be able to align with national and global benchmarks by adhering to BIS specifications, said the release.
