MLA Mahesh Tenginkai inaugurated the 20th Annual Joint Conference of the Indian Postal Employees Union of Karnataka Zone and the fifth Annual Joint Conference of the Dharwad Division of the Indian Postal Employees Union in Hubballi on Sunday.

He said that the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking several steps for the welfare of government employees.

“Earlier, Leftist unions used to spread lies that the Modi government will privatise all public sector undertakings and employees will be fired at will. However, none of this has happened. The NDA government at the Centre has not closed down any PSU nor has any employee been terminated. In fact, efforts have been made to provide better working conditions for employees,” the MLA said.

“Mr. Modi believes that employees like you are the backbone of this country. You have served selflessly during crisis times like COVID-19 lockdown,” he said.

He observed that the Postal Employees Union membership has grown to more than one crore. “You are all working to build the country and it is commendable,” he added.

He said such a conference was being held in North Karnataka for the first time.

Union leader M.P. Singh said that the increase in income tax exemption limits to ₹12 lakh will help employees.

Leaders Anant Kumar Pal, Kaiyali Ram Sharma, D. Chandrashekhar, Tara V. and others were present.
