The Budget presented by the Finance Minister failed to meet the expectations of the people, neglecting key issues like unemployment, price rise, and social welfare, said P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP.
“The Budget has failed the people belonging to all sections of our society,” he said, adding that it betrayed farmers, students, migrant labourers, minorities, backward communities, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe alike.
“It is outrageous that the government which failed to control the price rise for vegetables, fruits and other essential commodities is now setting up a comprehensive programme for vegetables and fruits with no road map,” he said.
“Though the Finance Minister claimed that India was the second largest producer of fish and aquaculture products, it is surprising that there is no package for improving the life and social security of fisherfolks,” said Mr. Wahab.
However, Mr. Wahab welcomed the care centre proposal in all district hospitals, a demand that he raised in Parliament last year.
