DMK MPs will raise in Parliament the issue of evolving a code of conduct for Governors and setting a time-frame for them to grant assent to the Bills passed in the State Assemblies.
A resolution adopted at a meeting of the DMK MPs, chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Wednesday, said the Tamil Nadu government had already filed a petition in the Supreme Court on the issue.
Recalling Supreme Court judge B.V. Nagarathna’s observation that the “Governors in India were playing a role where they ought not to be and were inactive when they should be playing an active role. Cases on Governors coming to the court is a sad story”, the resolution said: “Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi fits the observation.”
Another resolution urged the Centre to present a Budget that would allocate more funds for disaster management and railway projects.
