In senior singles, India will not have any representatives at the US Open 2025, with Sumit Nagal—who featured in the main draw last year—missing out this time. However, there is plenty of Indian interest in the junior singles.
Sixteen-year-old Maaya Rajeshwaran will make her junior Grand Slam main draw debut. She rose to prominence with a sensational semifinal run as an unranked wildcard at the Mumbai Open WTA 125. Since then, she reached the first round of qualifying at the French Open, losing to Britain’s Brooke Black, and advanced to the second round of qualifying at Wimbledon before falling to China’s Ye Shiyu.
Currently ranked No.55 in junior girls’ singles with 1027.5 points, Maaya now faces the challenge of competing on the big stage of a Grand Slam main draw.
Another promising player to watch is 18-year-old Kriish Tyagi. More experienced than Maaya, Kriish is ranked No.49 in the world and has already featured in multiple junior Grand Slam main draws. In 2025, he earned a direct entry into the Australian Open Juniors, where he lost in the first round to Switzerland’s Nikola Djosic 6-1, 6-2.
At Wimbledon, he again fell in the opening round, beaten 6-3, 6-3 by the Czech Republic’s Jan Kumstat. Now set for the US Open Junior Championships, Kriish will be aiming to make a stronger impact.
Hitesh Chauhan, Arjun Rathi, Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar, and Arnav Paparkar are the ones who will be playing in the boys’ singles qualifying rounds.
All four are ranked in India’s ITF Junior boys’ top 100: Arnav Paparkar stands at world No. 71, Hitesh Chauhan No. 72, Rethin Kumar No. 77, and Arjun Rathi No. 88—an encouraging indicator of India’s rising junior talent
