Girl found dead in pond in Namakkal

A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a pond in a stone quarry on Monday evening. 

Dhashini, daughter of Ramalingam, resident of Echamparai near R. Pudupatti at Namagiripet, had stepped outside her house to attend to nature’s call but did not return. Her parents began a search for her and later found her body in a pond at a quarry in the locality. Namagiripet police were alerted, who arrived at the spot and sent the body to the Rasipuram Government Hospital for postmortem.

Rumours began spreading on social media that the girl was kidnapped by migrant workers, after which district police issued a release that said she accidentally fell into the pond. A warning was also issued against spreading rumours on social media.
