Habitual offender arrested in Bengaluru

The Chandra Layout Police have arrested a habitual offender and recovered eight mobile phones worth ₹1.27 lakh from him. The accused roped in a juvenile to snatch phones while riding pillion, while he drove around on a scooter targeting people walking alone with mobile phones.

Using the same modus operandi, the accused had snatched a mobile phone from a man who was on his morning walk in August, 2024. Based on the complaint by the walker, the police analysed footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras before zeroing in on the juvenile at his house in Padarayanapura. The juvenile was taken into custody for questioning and spilled the beans on the habitual offender who had roped him in.

Armed with this information, the police tracked down the accused and recovered eight mobile phones he had robbed from different places and was planning to sell.
