The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) successfully apprehended nine government officials for accepting bribes during its month-long operation ‘Spot Trap’ conducted in January. This drive resulted in a record number of arrests for corrupt practices within a single month in VACB’s history.
Among the arrested, six are from the Revenue department, including four village officers and two surveyors. The remaining persons include a health inspector, a civil police officer and an employee from the Kerala Water Authority.
The VACB has stated that the anti-corruption efforts will continue in the coming months with an objective to deter officials from exploiting the public for bribes and ensuring that government services remain free from corruption.
