Davina Perrin's unbeaten 101 - the second ever century in The Women's Hundred Competition - powered Northern Superchargers into the final with a commanding 42-run victory over London Spirit at the Oval on Saturday.
Perrin cracked 15 boundaries and five sixes in her 43-ball innings as Superchargers posted a mammoth 214 for 5, the highest team total in the tournament's history. The total proved too far beyond the reach of Spirit despite brisk knocks from Charli Knott (16-ball 40) and Georgia Redmayne (30-ball 50).
Put in to bat, Superchargers took control early with Perrin taking apart Kate Coppack and Eva Gray. Even as her opening partner, Davidson Richards, struggled to get a move on, Perrin's attack ensured an opening stand of 105 in only 49 balls before Richards departed for a 18-ball 15.
Her dismissal only made matters worse for Spirit as Phoebe Litchfield found her groove after a slow start. Gray faced the wrath of both their attacks as she ended up conceding 42 runs from her three five-ball sets.
Both departed in quick succession, but Nicola Carey's flourish in the death helped Superchargers to a commanding total.
In response, Spirit were pegged back early, reduced to 12 for 3 within the first 12 balls of the chase. Cordelia Griffith and Knott smashed a breezy 63-run stand in only 24 balls to revive the innings even as they continued to be on the backfoot. Redmayne ensured that the innings found some respectability with her half-century, but in the absence of support from the other end, victory was well out of sight.
Brief Scores: Northern Superchargers 214/5 in 100 balls (Davina Perrin 101, Phoebe Litchfield 35; Sarah Glenn 1-33) beat London Spirit 172/9 in 100 balls (Georgia Redmayne 50*, Charlie Knott 40; Grace Ballinger 3-22, Annabel Sutherland 3-40) by 42 runs
