Stating that Union Budget 2025 ‘reflects the true aspirations’ of the people of India, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has said that income tax exemption up to ₹12 lakh will help boost the economy in a big way as taxpayers will have more disposable income for spending.
“People are happy with the income tax exemption. They will now spend money on purchasing commodities, which will help generate revenue for the government. More purchasing power and spending will help increase employment opportunities,” Mr. Chandra Sekhar told The Hindu over phone from New Delhi, while referring to the Union Budget 2025 tabled in Lok Sabha by Union Fincnce Minister NirmalaSitharaman on Saturday.
Mr. Chandra Sekhar said that more purchasing power would help create more demand for goods and services, thereby increasing the production.
The Union Minister said giving priority to industries and manufacturing sectors is the overall theme of the Union Budget .
The incentives for maritime and export sectors will increase the exports of goods and services and help increase forex reserve.
Referring to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chandra Sekhar said that the Central government had extended Jal Jeevan Mission up to 2028 as requested by the State.
The previous YSRCP government had miserably failed in utilising this scheme, despite the Union government allocating ₹14,000 crore for the State, he said, pointing out that only ₹2,000 crore of the sanctioned ₹14,000 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission was used during the YSRP’s tenure.
“Now, the NDA government will utilise the funds released under this scheme prudently,” Mr. Chandra Sekhar said and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the Jal Jeevan Mission for the benefit of Andhra Pradesh.
The Union Minister explained that the allocation of ₹1 lakh crore for urban development and ₹ 1.5 lakh core for infrastructure development will benefit the people across the country.
