The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations in India.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still working on key details. This includes determining a suitable window for the tournament, as well as finalizing the number of participating teams and other logistical aspects.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial platforms for identifying talent for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide local players with opportunities to showcase their skills and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
